FROM THE VENERABLE MASTER

Summer is almost over and it has been a busy one in our Valley. A great time was had by all that attended our First Annual LUAU in July. A big thanks to Ted Voudouris,Del Foster and his lady Mona for an outstanding evening of food and entertainment. This is an event you will want to put on your calendar now for next year.

We had one of the biggest groups of men in recent history for the JAMES G. LIGGETT REUNION CLASS . Thank you to the stage, sound, cast, Knife and Fork and all the officers for making this a memorable class for us all. Don’t forget to carry those petitions in your pocket throughout the year so that when you run into that new man you can give him a petition to become a Scottish Rite Mason.

The SCOTTISH RITE SHRINE PICNIC was again a huge success, and I personally owe the planners for a pie in the face. Congratulations to our new Honor Men—especially my fellow presiding officer Gary Young, 32° KCCH—it is well deserved by all. For a complete list see the Personal Representatives column.

As we move into September we again find the calendar filling up with many events. Our STATED MEETING is hosted by the Consistory and they plan to have a new federal judge as our speaker. And don’t forget the ANNUAL COMMUNICATION FOR GRAND LODGE is September 23–25, in San Francisco.

And, what would the Fall be without another fundraiser? The Second Annual Oktoberfest is scheduled Saturday, October 15, 2011 (Note the date change). Please come out and support your Scottish Rite Valley. Also in October plan on seeing our newest honor men receive their Honors at the Oakland Scottish Rite Temple on October 22, 2011.

Please contact me if you have any suggestions you would like for our Scottish Rite to consider.

As always, please send or call your reservations into the office for all of these events.

MARIO A. BALBIANI, 32°, Venerable Master
